Spore : Galatic Adventures

So with the announcement earlier this month of Will Wright moving on from EA Games to focus on other ventures, many were wondering what would happen with the Spore franchise.Well not to fear. It seems Mr. Wright will still be involved at with this expansion and any following expansions of Spore.
With Spore being the number one pirated game on the internet for the year of 2008 with an estimated 1.7 million downloads, and sales of the game estimated at 3.5 million, why wouldn’t they want to expand on it? Following the Sims franchise bandwagon they are undoubtably going to milk this game for all it is worth with every expansion possible. As it’s Will Wrights common tactic I expect it to continue.
The new expansion Spore : Galactic Adventures expands on the lackluster space stage so many, including myself were let down by. In the original version of spore you simply fly around in a basic space cruiser and beam things up. There wasn’t a lot to do and the game pretty much ends there. With the new expansion however you are now able to customize the ship on a much larger scale, you can create missions and adventures for your creature to embark upon, or follow some of the ones the game has preset. On top of that you can project your creature on to planets that you visit. The alien lifeforms of these new planets will often ask for your help.
I personally am excited about this expansion and look forward to giving it a try when I can. It will ship in June 23rd, 2009 and sites such as amazon and others are already allow pre-orders of the game.
