In the midst of the upcoming Left 4 Dead 2 title and the boycott thereof, everyone has been extremely worried about the future of the original, tride and true, Left 4 Dead.

Well, they really shouldn’t, and to be honest? If the people boycotting the game paid any attention they would have found this information.

“Since the release of Left 4 Dead last November, the design team has been excited about creating new experiences for this world and allowing players to do the same, by releasing much of our internal toolset, like the Survival Pack and Authoring Tools,” said Gabe Newell. “We’re working with the fans toward the ongoing entertainment value of the product.”  - L4D Dev Team

“Crash Course” is coming to PC and Xbox 360, a brand new two-chapter campaign geared towards Versus Play and providing a shorter, more intense multiplayer experience. It’s meant to run a 30 minute versus game with added recharge timers for special infected, as well as better placed support items for survivors.

Crash Course is set shortly after the events of No Mercy, where it’s revealed that the helicopter pilot who rescued Bill, Zoey, Louis and Francis was actually infected. Which confirms an easter egg that’s been reported in the game files for L4D. In the standard game files there is supposedly a short clip that eludes to the fact that the chopper pilot is infected. The other survivors blame Zoey for crashing the chopper, since she’s the one who ended up shooting the pilot. A lot of new dialog has been recorded for the game, and I think it will be an excellent addition. Hopefully we will see more of these to come. Don’t forget though there is also the wonderful user made content out there.

Speaking of I’ve been trying a new campign with some friends lately and it’s probably one of the most interesting ones I’ve seen so far. It’s called Death Aboard 7.0. Go give it a download and tell me how you like the ship level. Haha. Anyhow Crash Course is set for release this month though I’ve not seen a concrete date. Not sure how they are planning to release it on PC assuming they will do it through steam the same way they did the survival pack in May.

I am greatly looking forward to this content as this past two weeks I’ve played 32 hours of Left 4 Dead on top of my 28 hours in Day of Defeat. I really enjoy survival mode and have been playing the same campaigns till recently for almost a year. It will be fantastic to have some fresh content. Guess that means it’s time for me to move on from my onboard graphics card and get a real one huh? hehe.

In short, Crash Course is said to be out this month, it will be free for PC users that own L4D, the XBOX 360 users will have to pony up 7.00$ for the new content.

That’s my edition for today, I’ll be blogging at least once a week from now on keeping you updated on any new gaming topics.
